Meeting 18th April

Today we had another meeting and we discussed about starting little by little to open the space and show and share our work. The first attempt would be to do an 'Open House' evening, and the dates suggested were the 12th or the 18th May. It would be great to define a date ASAP so we can start inviting people around. This evening would be an opportunity to let people know the space exists and to learn a bit about the work we are doing. So it would be up to you how you would like to present yourself (doing something live, hanging something on the walls, projecting a video - Noyale has a projector, by the way - etc). If you can't be present in any of those dates you may think about a way to be present, that is, leave some work people can check out.

We also went back to the subject of having a common collaborative area where we could hang things, write notes and somehow create something together that is part of the experience of being in this space. We decided we would use wall in the green room as a space for that. I will also hang a rope so we can hang things and create some sort of 'open archive'. Then we can start sharing our thoughts in a more creative way.

And as I'm talking about green room, we decided the floor in the green room should be green. So I will be painting the floor sometime from next week. If you could please let me know when you are not going to be around it would be great as we need the paint to dry out. Alternatively, if we could have a copy of the key for the other door it would be great. That means we can avoid the green room for a day or two.

Finally, I've updated the WEDNESDAYS (Nicole & Antonio slots) on google calendar until the 11th May. So there is some free space in the afternoon. The dates after the 11th are still TBC but I'll keep you posted.

That's it for now. Noyale, please add something else if you think I forgot...
Happy Easter everyone and I'll see you soon!
Nicole

I think it is a great idea to meet more people from there and keep up with what is going on. I had a look at some of the blogs and they are quite interesting, we should may be add more stuff on ours! Anyway I am updating it a little to introduce a bit more the group.
I might try to come down on Friday for the cake meet!

04/.04 meeting notes

Hello everybody,
Sorry for delay in writing up the notes I have been a bit hectic. I would like to apologise for those who came on Monday due to a problem with childcare I had to bring my little monster with me and she was not a very good collaborator! So I sort of over heard only the conversation. But I thought that what was being said about process and methodology was quite relevant and could be develop further. My question to the group for this week was about how we work, what is the creative process we follow? do we follow a methodology? How do we record our process?
Nicole said that the process was different depending with who she is working, but that in general verbal discussion is the initial way to start moving ideas.
Sophie talked about a sort of anxiety around the idea of body and mind and mapping your thoughts into physicality; to be clear about what we do.
Something about restriction - technique and technology shaping the creative process....but here I have some gaps and might need your input to recollect. PLEASE COMMENT
I thought we could perhaps discuss that a bit further when we next meet.
Another idea mentioned is the idea of a 'scrapboard' (growing out of what Nicole and Antonio have started with the post-it on the wall. We could use a whole in the studio to map our creative process independently but in a sort of open source way.so when we come to the studio we could have a glance at others process. I like the fact that it would be organically growing in the space along with the work. But I am not completely sure of how to construct it. Sophie mentioned a flip chart...any other ideas?...

Oh by the way: this Friday morning 8th April is also FREE! :-)

Wednesdays

I just saw the note on the calendar regarding the Wednesdays. I spoke today in the meeting about that and I need to check my schedule for May. For April I can say right now: on the 6th and the 13th you can use afternoon and evening. The following weeks I still need to check and for May I'll give you an update in the next meeting. I'm sorry if I can fix a weekly time. That's because of my work schedule and in the event that I have to work in the evenings I would like to have the whole afternoon. And if I don't work in the evening I'll be happy to start a bit later! So I'll let you know ASAP.
